In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar Police (MBVV) Crime Branch intercepted a suspicious white car in Vasai East on Thursday and seized heroin valued at around RS8 crore in the open market.

Acting on a tip-off that a group of individuals would arrive in the area to sell a large quantity of the high-value narcotic, the Crime Branch team kept surveillance in the locality. During the operation, officers noticed a suspicious white car and conducted a raid.

During the search, the team recovered a significant quantity of heroin concealed in the vehicle. Three men were taken into custody for possessing the illegal substance.

The accused have been identified as Samundar Singh Devda (49), Yuvrajsingh Rathod (28), and Takhtsingh Rajput (38), all residents of Rajasthan.

Police have registered a case against the trio under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act) at Waliv Police Station. Further investigations are underway to determine the source of the drugs and whether a larger trafficking network is involved.
