A man wanted for a double murder and multiple other crimes in Chicago was arrested Tuesday in St. Louis, Missouri, authorities report.
Police said Muhammad Thomas, 35, allegedly burglarized a business on Nov. 8, 2025, in the 3800 block of West 26th Street in South Lawndale. While fleeing the scene, Thomas is accused of shooting and killing a 25-year-old man and a 63-year-old man.
Investigators also say Thomas is charged with shooting and seriously injuring a 26-year-old man on July 28, 2023, in the 1700 block of West Maypole Avenue on the Near West Side, and is believed to have committed an armed robbery in the 2300 block of West Cermak Road in the Lower West Side.
On Feb. 24, 2026, U.S. Marshals and Chicago Police Department officers located Thomas in the 200 block of South Tucker Street in St. Louis.
Thomas was extradited back to Chicago and faces numerous charges, including:
Two counts – First-Degree Murder
One count – Aggravated Battery/Discharge Firearm
One count – Aggravated Battery/Peace Officer
Two counts – Armed Robbery/Discharge Firearm
One count – Armed Robbery/Other Dangerous Weapon
One count – Attempted Vehicular Hijacking – Aggravated – Firearm
One count – Burglary
Three Warrant Issuances
No further details have been released by authorities.
Thomas remains in custody as Chicago police continue their investigation into his alleged crimes.
