Arrests and Drug Seizure

Two men, Ibrahim Badshah (29) and Muhideen Fayaz (27), both from Mandapam, were arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt.

During a coordinated operation with the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau Police, officers stopped a suspicious car near the Karikuttam bus stand that was heading toward Mandapam.

Inside the vehicle, police recovered:

219 kg of ganja

19 kg of methamphetamine

10 kg of heroin

Smuggling Plan

Investigation revealed that the drugs were transported from Andhra Pradesh to Mandapam by road and were intended to be smuggled to Sri Lanka via a country boat.

The Q Branch police are also searching for Sheik Rahman (25) from Mandapam, another suspect involved in the smuggling network.

The total international market value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs30 crore.

Authorities described the operation as a major success against international drug trafficking from the southern coast of India.
