Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on illegal gambling, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone, in coordination with Amberpet Police, arrested six individuals running a sophisticated online Satta betting operation from a rented flat in Bathakammakunta, Bagh Amberpet.
The accused include Voddepelli Naveen (24), a carpenter, along with Pudari Sai Kiran (24), Soma Mahender (24), Bingi Sai Kiran (23), Bingi Avinash (30), and Sana Sai Preetham (25). Authorities recovered Rs 79,000 in bank balances, Satta collection money, 17 mobile phones, a laptop, a car, a bike, and other betting materials worth approximately Rs 20 lakh.
Police said the group used multiple fake Facebook accounts and unverified mobile numbers to lure victims, offering small profits initially and later manipulating outcomes so that investors would lose money. Registration fees for Satta number predictions ranged from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000, collected through UPI platforms such as Google Pay and PhonePe.
The accused had rented the flat two months prior for Rs 14,000 per month, setting up a base for the operation. Police stated that fake promotional videos were made to encourage larger investments.
All six suspects have been taken into custody, and the seized items have been handed over to Amberpet Police for further investigation. Authorities have warned citizens to remain cautious of online betting schemes.
