Diresh Kutum Arrested for MDMA Drug Bust in Bengaluru

Kerala Police Seize Drugs Worth Over Rs 1 Crore in Electronics City

by Ananya Mehta

Kerala police, in coordination with local authorities, raided a house in Mylasandra, Electronics City and arrested Diresh Kutum for allegedly trafficking MDMA pills worth over Rs1 crore.

Kutum, a native of Assam, reportedly worked as a food-delivery agent, transporting narcotics from Assam and Kerala through Bengaluru. Police recovered the drugs concealed inside around 12 packs of Cerelac at his residence.

The raid followed previous operations in Malappuram, Kerala, where Kutum’s eight associates were arrested on drug peddling charges, and 1 kg of MDMA was seized. Based on statements from these associates, Kerala police traced Kutum to Bengaluru and conducted the successful operation with the help of local authorities.

A senior IPS officer explained that such cross-border raids are conducted based on credible intelligence, reflecting the ongoing increase in drug trade rather than a weakness in Karnataka’s policing network.
