Five individuals have been arrested in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh for allegedly assaulting a man and forcing him to transfer Rs23,260 via UPI, police said on Monday.
The accused — Bhupender Singh, Chandan Prasad, Golu Kumar, Mohammad Aftab, and Mohammad Farman — allegedly intercepted the victim, Rajneesh Yadav, at Gol Chowk in Baddi on February 27 while he was returning home.
According to police, the suspects assaulted Yadav, confiscated his mobile phone, and coerced him into transferring Rs23,260 to multiple bank accounts through UPI transactions.
A swift and coordinated investigation, including cybercrime analysis and examination of CCTV footage from the area, enabled police to trace and arrest all five accused within 48 hours.
Superintendent of Police, Baddi, Vinod Kumar, confirmed the arrests and stated that further investigation is underway.
