PARAÑAQUE CITY, Philippines — Two individuals, Glenn, 25, and Imel, 29, were arrested in an entrapment operation after being implicated in a fake luxury bag scam in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.
The operation followed complaints regarding the sale of counterfeit designer bags worth hundreds of thousands of pesos. A 29-year-old call center agent reported that she was tricked into buying a high-end bag earlier this month, paying ₱700,000 for what was presented as a Birkin Hermes bag, which later proved to be counterfeit.
On February 26, the suspects contacted the victim again, offering a Kelly 25 Hermes bag for ₱950,000. Instead of paying, the victim sought help from authorities. Police arranged a controlled meeting that turned into an entrapment operation, resulting in the arrest of Glenn and Imel.
During the raid, officers recovered two Kelly 25 Hermes bags (white and black), along with a Chanel item, a Coach bag, and a magnifying loupe glass, which investigators believe was used to convince buyers of the items’ authenticity.
The suspects now face estafa (swindling) charges, and the case has been forwarded to the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings.
