In a dramatic breakthrough in the Greater Noida murder case, police have arrested the main accused, Monu, following an armed encounter in Puari village. The arrest comes days after the shocking daylight killing of 27-year-old Nitin, allegedly linked to a long-standing personal rivalry.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Sudhir Kumar, who had constituted special teams to track down those involved in the crime. Acting on specific intelligence about Monu’s location, police launched a carefully planned search operation.
According to officials, when officers attempted to apprehend him, Monu allegedly opened fire in a bid to escape. Police retaliated, injuring him during the exchange. He was subsequently overpowered and taken into custody.
Authorities recovered a country-made pistol along with live and spent cartridges from the scene. The accused has been admitted to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and remains under police watch.
The arrest marks a significant development in the case, as investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify any additional individuals involved.
