Scott Rohwedder Charged After Highway 100 Crash

Coralville Man Accused of OWI After Wreck

LINN COUNTY, Iowa — Scott Rohwedder, of Coralville, is facing charges after authorities say he drove the wrong way and crashed his pickup truck Wednesday night on Iowa Highway 100.

According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted Rohwedder traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes and attempted a traffic stop. When he failed to pull over, a deputy crossed the median and initiated a rolling roadblock to slow eastbound traffic over the Cedar River.

Authorities say Rohwedder crashed shortly afterward.

Troopers with the Iowa State Patrol reported that Rohwedder showed signs of alcohol impairment. Court documents state he told a paramedic he had consumed a margarita prior to the crash.

Investigators obtained a search warrant to draw blood approximately three hours after the incident. The test showed a blood alcohol concentration of .231. Despite the delay in testing, troopers allege Rohwedder was operating under the influence at the time of the crash.

Both Rohwedder and a deputy were treated for minor injuries.

In addition to an operating-while-intoxicated charge, Rohwedder faces multiple traffic violations. He was later released on a $2,500 bond.
