A suspected fraudster has been arrested in connection with a land scam worth nearly Rs35 lakh, police officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Deepak alias Tooda, was wanted in a criminal case registered at Vijay Vihar Police Station. He allegedly conspired with associates to cheat two individuals by presenting forged property documents and falsely claiming ownership of a plot located in Begumpur Extension.
Declared Proclaimed Offender
Earlier this year, a court in Rohini declared Deepak a proclaimed offender after he failed to appear in connection with the case. Acting on specific intelligence about his movements, police laid a trap in Sector-13, Rohini, and successfully apprehended him.
Confession During Interrogation
During questioning, Deepak reportedly confessed to forging property documents and deceiving the victims. Police sources revealed that he also admitted to being involved in gambling activities and substance abuse, which allegedly fueled his criminal actions.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to trace other individuals involved in the fraudulent land deal and to determine whether more victims were targeted in similar schemes.
