Odisha Drug Kingpin Manoj Khillo Arrested in Koraput

Accused Fled on Parole, Tracked Across Odisha–Andhra Border

by Ananya Mehta

A notorious drug trafficker, Manoj Khillo, who allegedly supplied narcotics from the Andhra–Odisha border to Delhi and other parts of India, has been arrested in Koraput, Odisha. Khillo had been absconding after securing parole under the pretext of his mother’s cancer treatment.

Declared a proclaimed offender by a court, Khillo carried a reward of Rs50,000 for information leading to his capture.

According to police, Khillo frequently used multiple aliases and changed his identity while dealing with suppliers and associates to evade detection. Investigators said this tactic made it difficult for accomplices to disclose his real identity if caught. Khillo also exploited jurisdictional boundaries by frequently moving across the Odisha–Andhra Pradesh border, complicating police tracking efforts.

The arrest was carried out by a team led by Inspector Shiv Kumar. Authorities had received intelligence that Khillo remained active in supplying narcotics from Odisha to various parts of the country, including Delhi-NCR. Based on these inputs, secret surveillance was mounted on Khillo and members of his alleged crime syndicate, with multiple teams deployed across Odisha to trace his movements.

Police confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to dismantle his narcotics network and apprehend other associates.
