LINCOLN, Neb. — A Lincoln man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison after authorities discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine inside his home in 2024.
Julius Phillips, 40, was sentenced Thursday in federal court to 146 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. After completing his sentence, Phillips will serve five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
On Nov. 21, 2024, following a series of controlled purchases, the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at Phillips’ residence. Investigators reported finding 280 grams of methamphetamine in a baggie, along with 154 grams of marijuana packaged in smaller baggies and placed on a digital scale.
Authorities also recovered drug paraphernalia, including a meth pipe, as well as several weapons and related items. These included a Marlin Model 60 .22 Long Rifle, a pistol grip, a BB gun designed to resemble an assault rifle, .22 caliber ammunition, and Winchester .38 special bullets.
Before serving the warrant, law enforcement made contact with Phillips outside the residence. A search of his person resulted in the seizure of $7,201 in cash, a used syringe found in his pocket, keys to the home, and two cell phones.
The case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force.
