Kerala police have made a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking with the arrest of Afzal, 23, a resident of Karakulam, during a routine vehicle inspection on Monday. Authorities recovered over 325 kilograms of cannabis, highlighting the ongoing crackdown on narcotics in the region.
The operation was initiated following confidential intelligence received by City Police Commissioner K Karthik, which led to intensified surveillance across key areas, including Pravachambalam and Nemom.
A coordinated effort by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) and Nemom Police resulted in the interception of the vehicle carrying the contraband. Officials stated that investigations are ongoing to trace the source and distribution network of the seized drugs.
Police have reiterated that the fight against drug smuggling will continue with the same intensity, aiming to curb the growing menace of narcotics in Kerala.
