Rehan Masqati, son of businessman and Congress leader Ali Masqati, was arrested by Bandlaguda Police on Friday, October 3, in connection with a road accident that claimed the life of a 63-year-old man.
The deceased, identified as Abdul Hasnath, sustained fatal injuries when a Fortuner SUV hit the two-wheeler he was riding along with another man, 55-year-old Sajeed. Both victims fell as a result of the collision near Alhamdulilah Hotel, close to Al Jubail Colony before Falaknuma Fly-over on September 30.
Abdul Hasnath suffered head, left knee, and abdominal injuries and later died while undergoing treatment at Asra Hospital. Sajeed sustained a left leg injury and was shifted to Bhagwandevi Hospital at Gulzarhouse.
The police registered a case under sections 106 (1) and 125 (a) for causing death by negligence and endangering life or personal safety. The Fortuner involved in the accident has been seized.
A relative of the deceased stated that Rehan Masqati’s family had sent Rs 70,000–80,000 to cover hospital bills but requested that he personally meet them. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are questioning the accused regarding the circumstances of the crash.
