Udupi police have arrested two individuals in connection with a fraud case involving the alleged misuse of a Union Bank seal for property tax payments.
A special police team was formed to trace the accused and recover the property involved in the offence. On February 12, officers apprehended the suspects near Union Bank in the Rajangana area of Udupi.
The accused were identified as 25-year-old Supesh, resident of 76 Badagubettu, Kasturba Nagar, and 43-year-old Shantha, resident of Moodu Alevoor, Kunthala Nagar, Udupi.
During interrogation, both voluntarily disclosed details about the fraud. Police seized the Union Bank seal allegedly used in the scam, along with other related documents. Further legal action is underway against the accused.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Udupi District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, with guidance from Additional SP Sudhakar Nayak and DySP Belliyappa of the Udupi sub-division.
The investigation was led by Udupi Town Police Station Inspector-in-Charge Mahesh Prasad P, assisted by Sub-Inspector Gangappa S and staff members Surendra D, Santosh Rathod, Netravathi, Pavithra, and Spoorthi.
