In a major crackdown on interstate and international drug trafficking, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Ahmedabad City Police busted a hybrid ganja smuggling network with alleged links to Bangkok, arresting two people from Sardarnagar.
Acting on a tip-off, SOG officers intercepted a car near Noblenagar and arrested:
Chetan Prajapati – 28, resident of Rajasthan
Jiya Prajapati – 34, resident of Rajasthan
Police recovered 22.780 kg of hybrid ganja concealed in three bags, valued at approximately Rs 8.01 crore in the illegal market. Forensic testing confirmed the substance was a potent hybrid variant of cannabis. Investigations revealed that the consignment was allegedly supplied by Milan Vaghasia (Surat) and Arman Joshi (Ahmedabad), both currently absconding.
Further probe indicated that the drugs were smuggled from Bangkok via a network involving Gopal Solanki and Umesh Solanki (Nathdwara), and Bhuvnesh Bunkar (Banswara, Rajasthan).
Separate Surat LCB Poppy Heads Seizure
The Surat District LCB intercepted a specially modified truck near Kadodara Crossroads, recovering 1,034.435 kg of poppy heads/straw worth Rs 1.55 crore. Including the vehicle, the total value of the seizure is estimated at Rs 1.75 crore.
The arrested persons in this operation are:
Shravankumar Hanumanram Bishnoi – 30, truck driver, resident of Jodhpur
Vikram Omprakash Godara – 20, cleaner, resident of Jaisalmer
Police are investigating the source, distribution network, and potential links between these inter-state and international trafficking operations.
