Danielle Longmire Sentenced for Scamming Locals with Fake Fundraisers

Rochester Woman Gets House Arrest and Probation for Fraud Scheme

by Sophia Bennett

Danielle Longmire, a 24-year-old from Rochester, has been sentenced to 365 days of house arrest and 545 days of probation after pleading guilty to scamming local residents with fake fundraisers.

In the scheme, Longmire used her three young children to go door-to-door in the community, collecting donations under the guise of fundraisers for baseball, Cub Scouts, and school events. However, these fundraisers were entirely fabricated. Court records reveal that Longmire not only pocketed the donations but also altered the amounts on checks given to her, attempting to cash them at local banks. In one case, she even stole an elderly woman’s entire checkbook, writing fraudulent checks that she tried to cash at Flagstaff Bank in Rochester.

Longmire’s actions led to her arrest on May 20, 2024, when she was charged with counterfeiting, fraud, and theft. She was initially held without bond due to her prior convictions, including charges of theft and exploitation of a dependent.

Following a plea deal, Longmire appeared in court on November 19, where she was sentenced to home detention and probation. In addition to her house arrest and probation terms, she was also ordered to complete 72 hours of community service. As part of the agreement, five felony theft charges were dropped, but she was required to pay $485 in restitution to the victims she had scammed.
