Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police have arrested three individuals, including notorious woman drug dealer Anita Paramguru (41), after seizing brown sugar worth Rs 60 lakh, officials confirmed on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, the special crime unit intercepted the accused near Harirajpur Chhak under Jatni police station limits on Thursday. Authorities recovered 555 grams of brown sugar, along with two SUVs, Rs 5.10 lakh in cash, five mobile phones, and gold ornaments, with a total estimated value of approximately Rs 1 crore, Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh stated.
The arrested individuals are Anita Paramguru (41), Rajendra Kumar Sahu (32), and Shiba Prasad Dash (28). The operation demonstrates the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate’s ongoing commitment to eliminating illegal narcotics activities in the region.
A police officer said, “The seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics and the arrest of key individuals is a significant step in our mission to safeguard the community. We are committed to dismantling criminal networks and bringing offenders to justice.”
The arrested persons will be produced before the court as investigations continue to trace the supply chain, identify financial enablers, and uncover any wider criminal affiliations.
