ODESSA, Texas — A 40-year-old Odessa woman has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 22-year-old man, according to the Odessa Police Department.
Authorities said Nicole Marie Jones faces a first-degree felony murder charge following an incident reported on January 9, 2026, around 6:48 p.m., in the 5000 block of Kingston. Responding officers found the victim unconscious and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the victim’s cellphone, which revealed communications indicating Jones had previously sold fentanyl to him. Police also confirmed that Jones had prior arrests related to fentanyl distribution and was out on bond at the time of the incident.
An autopsy later determined the cause of death to be acute fentanyl intoxication, confirming the fatal overdose.
Based on the evidence gathered, investigators formally charged and arrested Jones, police said. The case remains under investigation.
