Chennai: The Land Fraud Investigation Unit of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested two men for attempting to sell a property worth Rs2.5 crore in Anna Nagar using forged documents.

The arrested accused are:

Harinath (36) – orchestrated the operation

The duo tried to sell a 2,195 sq ft plot belonging to Beula Lilin Nallathambi, a 65-year-old retired doctor, by fabricating land records. They also attempted to mortgage the property at a bank to gain profit from the fraudulent transaction.

The arrests followed a complaint filed on November 25, 2024, which triggered an investigation by the Land Fraud Investigation Unit-I, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Varadharajan. Both men have been remanded in judicial custody, and the investigation is ongoing to determine if others were involved.
