A Missouri man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly running a scheme that defrauded car buyers on Facebook Marketplace, authorities say.

Mamadou Diallo, 24, now faces 14 felony charges after allegedly scamming at least eight victims out of more than $24,000, Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson announced Tuesday. Court records indicate Diallo is charged with six counts of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and eight counts of forgery. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 98 years in prison.

The Kansas City Police Department reported that between May and June 2025, investigators received eight reports of stolen vehicles following a similar pattern. Victims purchased cars through Facebook Marketplace from a seller using an online alias, later identified as Diallo.

After in-person transactions, Diallo allegedly provided what appeared to be legitimate titles and bills of sale. Shortly afterward, each buyer reported their newly purchased vehicle as stolen. When questioned by detectives, Diallo denied buying or selling vehicles on the platform, according to police.

As of Tuesday morning, Diallo remained in custody on a $30,000 cash-only bond. He also has holds from sheriff’s offices in three other counties. Court records show Diallo was previously charged in 2025 with multiple counts of tampering with a motor vehicle, stealing a motor vehicle, and aggravated fleeing from police.
