A 40-year-old Antioch man has been found guilty of armed violence and drug-related charges in McHenry County.

On Jan. 14, a jury convicted John T. Boland on multiple charges, including two counts of armed violence, possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Boland, a convicted felon on supervised release by the Illinois Department of Corrections as of May 3, 2024, was stopped by authorities in McHenry County while traveling in a vehicle previously reported as fleeing from law enforcement.

Investigators said they discovered a backpack in Boland’s car containing large amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine pills. Boland was also found in possession of a concealed firearm at the time of his arrest.

He is being held at the McHenry County Jail. The three-day trial concluded with multiple guilty verdicts. Boland is scheduled to appear in court next on Feb. 17, with a tentative sentencing hearing set for March 20.
