The Cyber Crime Police Station in Chandigarh has arrested two men for their alleged involvement in a fake online trading scam that cheated a city resident of Rs14.4 lakh. A formal case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.

According to police officials, the complaint was filed by Sunny Kumar, a resident of Manimajra, who claimed he was lured into investing after clicking on a YouTube advertisement that promised unusually high returns. Soon after, he was contacted via WhatsApp and persuaded to download a fraudulent trading application named ADVPMA.

The application displayed fabricated profits, convincing the complainant to invest more money. Between December 25, 2025, and January 5, Sunny Kumar transferred Rs14.4 lakh in multiple instalments through NEFT and IMPS transactions. However, when he attempted to withdraw the amount, the alleged fraudsters stopped responding.

During the probe, cyber police traced the money trail through bank and telecom data, leading them to an Axis Bank account registered under Prime Enterprises, Chandigarh. Raids conducted in Sector 56, Chandigarh, and Peer Muchhalla, Dhakoli, resulted in the arrest of Vivek (32) and Rishab Gandhi (25).

Police stated that the accused allegedly supplied bank accounts for cyber fraud operations in exchange for commission. Authorities have indicated that more arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.
