Terry Willis Arrested for Meth Trafficking in Morehead City

69-year-old faces multiple meth-related felony charges

MOREHEAD CITY, NC — A Morehead City man was arrested on methamphetamine trafficking charges and faces additional felony counts following a narcotics investigation by the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office.

Terry L. Willis, 69, was taken into custody after investigators conducted multiple undercover purchases of methamphetamine at his residence in the Morehead City area. Authorities executed a search warrant at Willis’ home on Oglesby Road on January 30, 2026, seizing approximately 76.5 grams (2.7 ounces) of methamphetamine.

Willis faces charges including two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, selling and delivering a Schedule II controlled substance, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances.

Following his arrest, Willis was transported to the Carteret County Detention Center and received a $350,000 secured bond. He is expected to make his first court appearance at the next session of District Court.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office and the Neuse River Regional Drug Task Force. Authorities emphasized the danger of methamphetamine distribution in local communities.
