JACKSONVILLE, NC — Jacksonville police say a reported road rage shooting on Davis Street Wednesday evening was not what it initially appeared to be.

Officers responded around 5:45 p.m. on January 28 near Oak Lane and Davis Street after a report that a driver had fired into another vehicle. During the investigation, authorities determined the claim was false.

Police say 19-year-old Savannah Huyck negligently discharged a firearm inside her own vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Huyck was charged with filing a false police report and discharging a firearm within city limits, and she was issued a $500 unsecured bond.

While on scene, 28-year-old Daekwon Thenthirath was also arrested for interfering with the investigation. He faces charges for resisting, obstructing, and delaying an officer and was issued a $500 unsecured bond.

Jacksonville Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing and stated that the incident appears isolated, with no current threat to the public. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Jacksonville Police Department.
