PASQUOTANK COUNTY, NC — Dustin Haywood Felton, 32, was arrested following an investigation into serious injuries sustained by his two-year-old twins.
On January 14, deputies responded to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center after a child was admitted with a possible brain bleed. Due to the severity, the child was airlifted by Nightingale to the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia.
Investigators discovered the child had a brain bleed, retinal hemorrhages, and other injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. During medical evaluation, the child’s twin was also found to have a previous spinal injury and bruises consistent with inflicted trauma.
Felton was arrested and charged with Felony Child Abuse – Intentionally Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury. He is being held without bond at the Albemarle District Jail. Felton appeared in court on January 20, and his bond status remains unchanged.
The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available.
