Thane, Maharashtra: The Thane City Crime Branch arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of Mahesh Nakhwa, solving the case within 24 hours.
Nakhwa’s body was discovered on Wednesday, prompting the registration of a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Thane Nagar Police Station. A parallel investigation was launched by the property cell of the crime branch, according to Senior Inspector Gorakhnath Garge.
By examining CCTV footage, the team tracked down Kali alias Raghu Chauhan (27), resident of Rajkot, Gujarat, and Kavi Vinubhai Mongolia (21), resident of Junagadh, at an eatery in Naigaon along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway, where they were reportedly attempting to flee to Gujarat.
During questioning, Chauhan’s girlfriend, Gita Mali, was also arrested.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Chauhan and Mongolia stabbed Nakhwa to death because he had allegedly been harassing Mali.
Local authorities continue to investigate the case further to confirm all details.
