Simro Devi Arrested for Killing Husband in Kathua

Woman confesses to strangulating husband over disputes

Kathua, J&K: Police have arrested Simro Devi for allegedly murdering her husband, Bittu Ram, in Kathua district.

The body of the victim, a resident of Dhar Dugnoo village, Billawar, was found in a stream on October 9 last year. Police said Bittu Ram had multiple injuries on his face and limbs, along with a ligature mark around the neck.

Following the discovery, authorities registered a case and launched an investigation. The crime scene was examined scientifically, and several exhibits were seized for further analysis.

During the probe, police examined multiple suspects before identifying the victim’s wife, Simro Devi, as the prime suspect.

According to a police spokesperson, Simro Devi confessed to the crime, stating that frequent quarrels and her illicit relationships led to strained relations with her husband. She admitted to strangling him with a rope. Investigators also recovered items connected to the offence during the inquiry.
