Suspect faces murder, robbery, and weapons charges

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla., Jan. 6, 2026 — Derrick Jenkins Jr., a Black male, was arrested late Tuesday on multiple serious felony charges, including first-degree premeditated murder, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest, documented under Report No. 540368 (Agency 01-PBSO), also includes allegations of robbery with a firearm, robbery without a firearm, and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted Florida felon.

Authorities have not released details about the victim, the location of the alleged crimes, or whether the robbery and homicide are connected. Information about a firearm recovery, bond, or court appearances was also unavailable at the time of the report, published at 9:28 p.m. Jan. 6, 2026.
