KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A former Grain Valley, Missouri, police officer has been sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple child sex crime charges.
U.S. District Judge D. Gregory Kays sentenced August Price Gildehaus, 30, of Blue Springs, to 20 years in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons, followed by a lifetime term of supervised release.
Gildehaus pleaded guilty on Feb. 25, 2025, to one count of enticing a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity and one count of producing child pornography.
According to court records, Gildehaus met the victim through an online social media platform. Prosecutors said the two met on five separate occasions between Aug. 5, 2022, and Jan. 5, 2023, engaging in illicit sexual activity at multiple locations, including a middle school parking lot.
Authorities said Gildehaus admitted the victim took explicit photographs of herself at home and that he sent her explicit images of himself. He also acknowledged recording videos of their sexual encounters.
Upon release, Gildehaus will be required to register as a sex offender and comply with both federal and state registration requirements, which may apply for the remainder of his life, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.
The investigation was conducted by the Grain Valley Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
