Podanur police have arrested three men involved in selling ganja and other drugs to youths in the city. The arrested have been identified as A Sharuk Khan (28) of Mailkal, S Yasar Moosabath (30) of Sriram Nagar, and J Lathif (29) of Kuniyamuthur.
According to police reports, officers on routine patrol near the Vellalore housing unit noticed the trio acting suspiciously behind the buildings. Upon inspection, police discovered five kilograms of cannabis, 200 painkiller tablets, eight syringes, and 22 needles in their possession.
Further questioning revealed that the men had been peddling drugs to local youth in the area. In addition to the narcotics, authorities seized three mobile phones and a two-wheeler used in their operations.
A case has been registered against the three accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They have been remanded to judicial custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
