ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount man has been arrested on multiple drug charges after authorities seized a large quantity of narcotics and firearms, police announced Friday.
Law enforcement identified 51-year-old John Johnson as a key figure in an ongoing investigation into the illegal sale and distribution of ecstasy (MDMA) in Rocky Mount.
Investigators with the narcotics unit, in partnership with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI), executed a traffic stop on Johnson’s vehicle around 1:45 p.m.. A K9 alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. Officials said they seized:
A concealed handgun
MDMA: 351.3 grams (approx. 1,000 dosage units)
Heroin: 37.45 grams
Cocaine: 33.75 grams
Marijuana: 33.75 grams
Oxycodone: 10 dosage units
Authorities then searched Johnson’s home on the 400 block of Cleveland Street and a hotel room at 121 Motel, recovering additional contraband:
MDMA: 890.2 grams
Fentanyl: 19.75 grams
Heroin: approximately 13,000 dosage units (3,683.05 grams)
Cocaine: 48.25 grams
Xanax (Alprazolam): 500 dosage units
Firearms: 15
Johnson has been charged with multiple offenses, including:
Trafficking Cocaine (2 counts)
Trafficking MDMA (2 counts)
Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Heroin
Maintaining a Dwelling/Vehicle for Selling Controlled Substances (2 counts)
Carrying a Concealed Gun
He is being held without bond, and authorities said additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
