EVERGREEN, Ala. — An Evergreen doctor is facing criminal charges following a months-long investigation into an explosion at his dental practice, according to the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Authorities said Douglas O’Connor has been charged with second-degree arson and first-degree insurance fraud. The charges stem from a 10-month investigation conducted jointly by the Alabama Attorney General’s Office and the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Officials say the investigation focused on an explosion that occurred at O’Connor’s dental office in Evergreen. Details surrounding the cause of the explosion have not been publicly released.
O’Connor turned himself in on Friday, Jan. 23, and is currently being held at the Conecuh County Jail while awaiting bond.
The case remains under investigation.
