The Rolugunta police in Anakapalli district have arrested two persons for allegedly cheating job aspirants by collecting money and falsely promising government jobs.
The accused were identified as E. Srinu and Sheikh Salim. They were arrested on Friday following complaints from victims who were allegedly duped with false assurances of employment.
Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that Srinu had approached a DSC aspirant from Rolugunta through her husband, claiming that he had strong connections with the ‘CM Peshi’ (Chief Minister’s Office). He allegedly promised to secure her a Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) post in the upcoming February 2025 DSC examination.
To carry out the fraud, Srinu reportedly demanded Rs15 lakh, assuring the victim that the job was guaranteed due to his political influence. Police said the accused collected money under similar pretexts from multiple aspirants.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case, conducted an investigation, and arrested both the accused. Further inquiries are underway to identify additional victims and determine if more persons are involved in the racket.
