Kandhamal: Police on Saturday arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of Duryodhan Bagarti (35), whose half-burnt body was discovered in the Chunaghati forest under Khajuripada police limits.

The accused have been identified as Prakash Hansha, Mukesh Hansha, and Jitendra Guru, all residents under Khajuripada police jurisdiction.

According to authorities, Duryodhan, a resident of Khaliberna village, had been missing since January 4. His family filed a missing person complaint after being unable to locate him. Villagers later discovered his charred body in the forest, prompting an investigation.

Tikabali IIC Prajna Ritambhara Kar stated, “Seven months ago, Prakash Hansha’s brother died. The accused suspected Duryodhan of practicing witchcraft and allegedly killed him in revenge.”

All three accused are scheduled to be produced before the court today, police said.
