Five Arrested in Manipur Drug Bust at Lilong

Drugs Worth Rs1.5 Crore Seized in Joint Operation

In a major anti-drug operation, a joint team of the Manipur Police, CRPF, and BSF arrested five persons and seized narcotics worth over Rs1.5 crore in the international market at Lilong in Thoubal district on Saturday, according to reports by Donald Sairem.

The arrested accused have been identified as Md Mustakim, Md Arif, Md Ajit, Ruhima, and Md Baboy alias Yahiya Khan. Police said that Mustakim and Baboy are habitual offenders who had been arrested in earlier drug-related cases as well.

During searches conducted at the accused persons’ residences, the joint team recovered 2.27 kg of WY tablets (methamphetamine) from Mustakim’s house and 45 grams of WY tablets from Baboy’s residence. In addition, police seized six mobile phones, along with account ledgers and diaries believed to be linked to drug trafficking activities.

Police sources said further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward links in the drug network and identify other individuals involved in the illegal trade.
