Seven months after two Bloomington sisters died from fentanyl overdoses, prosecutors have charged a local man they believe supplied the deadly drug.
Shaquan Hosea, 30, of Bloomington, has been charged with two counts of drug-induced homicide in connection with the deaths of sisters Angel and Treshonda Cornett.
During a court hearing last week, Assistant McLean County State’s Attorney Jeff Horve said the sisters believed they were purchasing cocaine from Hosea. Instead, prosecutors allege the substance was fentanyl.
Angel Cornett, 34, died on June 2, 2025, while her sister, Treshonda Cornett, 28, died the following day. Autopsy results showed both women died from fentanyl intoxication, according to prosecutors.
Hosea remains jailed as he awaits trial. In addition to the homicide charges, he is also facing an unrelated case alleging he provided false information to unlawfully obtain between $10,000 and $100,000 in Paycheck Protection Program loans during the COVID-19 pandemic through the Small Business Administration.
On Jan. 15, McLean County Associate Judge Amy McFarland ordered Hosea to remain in custody pending trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 6.
