Gurugram police have arrested a 24-year-old man, identified as Samyak, for allegedly cheating women by offering fake job opportunities and stealing their jewellery. The accused, a native of Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended at Basai Chowk following a complaint lodged by one of his victims.
The incident took place on December 4 last year, when a woman and her friend were searching for employment in Udyog Vihar Phase 1. According to police, Samyak approached them and claimed he could help them secure jobs. Gaining their trust, he took them on his motorcycle to a nearby company.
On their return, Samyak falsely informed the women that they had been selected for the job. He then told them that wearing jewellery was prohibited inside the workplace, convincing them to remove their ornaments. Taking advantage of the situation, he fled with the jewellery.
Following the complaint, Gurugram police registered a case and launched an investigation, which led to Samyak’s arrest. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to committing similar crimes in the area by targeting women seeking employment and exploiting their trust.
Police said further investigations are underway to determine whether Samyak was involved in additional cases and to recover stolen jewellery.
