UNIONTOWN, Pa. — David Coffey, 63, of Uniontown, was arrested Thursday as part of a multi-agency narcotics investigation spanning Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Authorities with the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force in Maryland apprehended Coffey after he reportedly left Uniontown carrying drugs. Acting on intelligence from Maryland, Fayette County law enforcement executed a search warrant at Coffey’s Walnut Street home.
Investigators recovered approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine, $4,200 in cash, and 14 firearms, including two previously reported stolen. Coffey is prohibited from owning firearms in Pennsylvania due to a 1994 felony conviction for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Allegany County District Court filed multiple felony charges against Coffey, including possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and possession of a large amount of narcotics. He is being held without bond in Maryland. Additional Fayette County charges are expected, including possession of a stolen firearm and receiving stolen property.
Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele praised inter-agency cooperation, saying, “We rely heavily upon our cooperation with different agencies… and it’s that cooperation that allowed us to make this arrest.”
