Adilabad Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of a social security pension beneficiary over a financial dispute. Mohammad Farooq and Bassi Ramesh, both from Indervelli, were apprehended for their involvement in the killing of Imrana Zabeer, who had initially been reported missing but was later found dead under suspicious circumstances at the Mavala Mandal Centre on November 26.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. Farooq admitted to smothering Imrana Zabeer when she demanded repayment of a loan of Rs 8.80 lakh and eight tolas of gold he had borrowed from her. He disclosed that he enlisted Ramesh’s help to commit the murder while the victim was alone at her house.
The duo later transported her body in a rented car and buried it in the forests of Maharashtra to conceal the crime. Two mobile phones were seized from the accused during the investigation.
The case was initially registered as a missing person complaint filed by the victim’s sibling. Subsequent financial transaction records helped police trace the suspects and uncover the motive. The investigation was supervised by Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy and other police officials.
