The Mehdipatnam police have arrested a four-member gang for conning people at ATM centres by exchanging their ATM cards and withdrawing cash from the victims’ accounts.
The arrested have been identified as Aamir Suhel alias Ameer (24), Mubarak (26), Mustakeen (25), and Mohd Amer (33).
Police said the gang targeted customers with limited knowledge of using ATMs. Standing outside ATM centres, they offered help with cash withdrawals or balance inquiries. During the process, the gang exchanged the victims’ ATM cards, later using them to withdraw money fraudulently.
DCP (South West), G Chandra Mohan, stated that the suspects were caught after a detailed investigation, and police are tracing any additional victims.
