PORTOLA, California — Robert Appley was arrested Friday evening after a probation search and traffic stop led to the seizure of drugs, firearms, and ammunition, according to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 9:50 p.m., deputies stopped a vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 70 just east of Portola. Appley, a local probationer, was the driver. During the probation search, deputies discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a firearm holster, and alcohol.
A subsequent search warrant of Appley’s Quincy home and a second vehicle revealed additional controlled substances, ammunition, and a firearm.
Appley was booked into the Plumas County Jail and faces multiple charges, including:
Possession of a controlled substance
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Repeat drug offender enhancements
Possession of a firearm by a felon
Possession of a controlled substance while armed
Possession of ammunition by a prohibited person
Removal of firearm identification numbers
Violation of probation
No injuries were reported, and the vehicle passenger was not arrested. The case will be forwarded to the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
