Pallavaram Police have arrested three individuals, including two women — Reena (24) and Ratchitha (25), both residents of Old Pallavaram — and a 17-year-old juvenile, in connection with the murder of a male friend near Pallavaram, Chennai. Authorities are searching for three additional suspects directly involved in the attack.
Police investigations revealed that Reena and Ratchitha, both active on social media, had befriended Selvakumar (22), a construction worker from Tirusulam. Selvakumar, after becoming intoxicated on several occasions, allegedly harassed and threatened the women, attempting to control their social interactions with other men.
Fearing continued threats and harassment, the women reportedly conspired to eliminate Selvakumar. They planned the attack with friends, including Alex (24), a 17-year-old, and two others.
Reena called Selvakumar to meet at Subam Nagar near Old Pallavaram. When he arrived on his two-wheeler, four men on two bikes attacked him with machetes, leaving him severely injured. The attackers fled the scene, and the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities noted that Reena and Ratchitha had previously extorted money from men online and maintained a lavish lifestyle. The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the remaining suspects.
