A 24-year-old man, Harshit Mehta, was arrested in Kamla Nagar, Agra, in connection with a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of 35-year-old Rajendra Gupta on November 2. The vehicle used in the incident has also been recovered by police.
Police were alerted to the accident after Gupta, a resident of Ram Nagar, East Delhi, was brought dead to LNJP Hospital, suffering severe injuries from the crash.
A case has been registered at IP Estate Police Station under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(a) (death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Investigators scrutinized hours of CCTV footage and cross-checked vehicle details, which led them to identify the car involved. Ownership records confirmed that the vehicle belonged to Harshit Mehta, who was subsequently taken into custody.
The police investigation continues to gather further evidence surrounding the fatal hit-and-run incident.
