Multan: In a major development in the fight against corruption in the land registration system, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Multan has arrested another suspect in a high-profile case involving fake property registrations and large-scale fraud in official fees at the Registry Branch and Sub-Registrar Office Multan.
The arrest signals a significant expansion of the investigation and underscores authorities’ resolve to hold all those involved accountable. Speaking to Daily Minute Mirror, Multan, Director Anti-Corruption Multan Region Basharat Nabi said the scope of the inquiry has been broadened and warned that no individual involved in forgery or financial fraud would be spared.
“Anyone found involved in this organised fraud—regardless of their position or influence—will face strict legal action,” Nabi stated.
The operation follows clear directives from Director General Anti-Corruption Punjab Sohail Zafar Chatha, who ordered intensified action against corrupt practices across the province. Acting on these instructions and under the direct supervision of Basharat Nabi, Assistant Director Investigation Zaheer Ahmed and Circle Officer Ali Hassan Gilani conducted a targeted operation on January 17, 2026.
During the operation, Haji Ahmed was arrested in connection with FIR No. 1917/25. The suspect has been taken into custody and shifted to the lock-up as further investigations continue.
The case initially surfaced when Multan Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan, during an inspection of the Registry Branch, uncovered widespread irregularities in registration fees, pointing to systematic manipulation and forgery. Immediate action was taken against the concerned deed writer and Sub-Registrar, and the matter was formally referred to the Anti-Corruption Establishment for legal proceedings.
Officials say the latest arrest marks another crucial step in dismantling what appears to be a deeply rooted network operating within the land registration system. Investigators believe additional arrests may follow as financial records and documentary evidence are closely examined.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment reaffirmed that, in line with the vision of the Government of Punjab and the leadership of DG ACE Punjab, the anti-corruption drive will continue without discrimination. Authorities stressed that accountability will be enforced at every level, signaling an end to impunity in registry-related fraud cases.
