The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Bukola Olabode for impersonating a police officer and defrauding Point of Sale (PoS) operators in the Ihunbo area of Ipokia Local Government. Olabode, who had been executing fraudulent transactions while wearing a police camouflage shirt and jeans, was apprehended by local residents on Tuesday after attempting to scam a PoS operator named Mary Midoyin.

Olabode’s arrest followed a failed attempt to defraud Midoyin. After tricking her into believing he was a legitimate officer, he made a fake transfer of N60,000 before fleeing the scene. However, the operator quickly discovered the fraud, and a hot pursuit led to Olabode’s capture. He was handed over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) office in Ihunbo before being transferred to the Idiroko Police Division.

During his detention, Olabode confessed to defrauding other PoS operators in the community. A Samsung phone, a black Itel phone, and a police constabulary warrant card were recovered from him, along with a round-neck T-shirt. He is currently in police custody while the investigation continues.
