Wagholi police have arrested three persons for allegedly hacking multiple credit cards and using the stolen details to purchase expensive mobile phones and other goods from various e-commerce platforms. Police recovered 45 high-end mobile phones worth Rs12 lakh from the accused.
The arrested accused have been identified as Aslam Mofid Khan (22) of Kaimur district in Bihar, Adib Rizwan Khan (21), and Farhan Ibrahim Unwala (25), both residents of Surat, Gujarat. The arrests were made between September 8 and 9 by a team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Somay Munde, along with Senior Inspector Yuvraj Hande and Inspector Asaram Shete.
The case came to light after an Indian Army soldier, Karimul Khussamud Ali Islam (32), lodged a complaint stating that his credit card had been hacked. He told police that he received a message containing a remote access software link, which opened as a form requesting his credit card details. After entering the details, his card stopped functioning, and he later received an alert that a mobile phone worth Rs1.1 lakh had been purchased using his card.
Investigations revealed that the phone was delivered to a pharmacy shop on Wagholi–Kesnand Road. Police examined CCTV footage and identified the person who accepted the delivery. Further tracking led officers to an e-commerce godown and helped them trace the delivery address and the accused’s identity.
On September 8, police raided a flat and arrested Aslam Khan and Adib Khan. The following day, Farhan Unwala was also taken into custody. Police said the trio randomly sent messages containing malicious APK links to potential victims, tricking them into sharing credit card details, which were then misused for online purchases.
Further investigation is underway to identify additional victims and recover more stolen items.
