Former executive accused of theft, forgery, and fraud

by Sophia Bennett

GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. — Former executive Edward Bittle, 51, has been arrested on suspicion of defrauding the Country Club of Green Valley of nearly $80,000, authorities announced.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Bittle was booked into county jail on charges of theft, forgery, and fraud. The investigation began in February after new club board members discovered accounting discrepancies, including checks written to Bittle from the club’s account and unauthorized wire transfers.

Bittle had worked at the club since 2004 and served as general manager from January 2021 until his resignation in January 2025. In his role, he oversaw payroll and daily operations, giving him access to the club’s financial systems. Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the alleged fraud.
