In a shocking case of domestic violence, Zothanpuia, 45, was arrested in northern Aizawl for allegedly murdering his 31-year-old wife, H Lalromawii. The Bawngkawn police received information on Sunday morning after Lalromawii’s body was discovered at their residence in Falkland locality.
Forensic experts examined the scene and confirmed multiple injuries, including a severe head wound caused by a blunt weapon, along with widespread bruises. Following the investigation, Zothanpuia confessed to the murder during police interrogation.
A woman residing nearby was also taken in for questioning as part of the probe. The couple were parents to four children. Lalromawii’s post-mortem was conducted at Aizawl Civil Hospital, and her body was later transported to her native village of Kawlbem in Champhai district for burial near the Myanmar border.
Police continue investigating the domestic circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
