The Cyber Cell of UT Police, Delhi has arrested three women involved in a credit card fraud that duped a city resident of Rs 1.73 lakh. The accused are suspected of using similar tactics to defraud multiple people.
The arrested have been identified as:
Pratima Sharma (18) – resident of Delhi
Juhi Sethi (27) – resident of Delhi
Roshni (59) – resident of Delhi
According to the complaint filed by Pankaj Kumar, a store manager in Mani Majra, he received a call on October 28, 2025, from a woman claiming to be Simran Sharma of a credit card department of a reputed international bank. She offered a new credit card with a limit of Rs 4.5 lakh for just Rs 170, promising extra reward points.
Following the instructions, Pankaj clicked a link sent via WhatsApp, after which Rs 170 was deducted from his SBI credit card. Later, further calls requested him to pay his outstanding card balance to increase the limit. He was tricked into opening another link, and his phone was hacked, resulting in transactions of Rs 1,53,900 and Rs 19,562.
Police investigation revealed that the accused operated from Ashok Nagar and Uttam Nagar, Delhi. They were arrested from Tilak Nagar, West Delhi, during a raid.
Authorities recovered an extensive array of items used for the fraud, including:
28 mobile phones
82 SIM cards
55 ATM cards
2 Aadhaar cards and 2 PAN cards
8 dongles
27 landline phones
Wireless transmitters
Bank cheque books and passbooks
The investigation confirmed that the accused impersonated bank and credit card officials, using the stolen data to execute fraudulent transactions. Further probes are ongoing to identify other victims and accomplices.
